Many of you may have heard of Birdsnest.com.au, a huge online retailer known for offering inspiring wardrobe solutions for Australian women. This inspiration has evolved into the launch of Birdnest’s first In house label, That Bird Label. Yesterday I attended a launch event here in Sydney and was blown away at the stunning designs. The range really does cater for different body shapes and sizes and I love a story where it is apparent that the brand actually listens to what customers want! In this case it was a call out for “affordable styles that lifted the spirits while answering body image concerns “, founder Jane Cay explains. I was so impressed with the collection and thrilled to discover I actually know Jane, having worked with her when she was an intern while at uni! I remember thinking, wow this girl is going to go a long way – I was right! ( I knew all Birdsnest’s founder Jane yet I didn’t recognise her under a married name – love this small world stuff, don’t you! )
I also loved meeting her committed team of buyer and designers, such amazing girls. Jane runs a very unique company where her team and her customer really do matter, I mean truly matter, in fact Jane and her team just won best customer experience in the Online Retailer awards. Well done on a fabulous range.
Now the hard job – to choose my order from my fave picks below !
Enjoy,

One thing I’ve been really frustrated with over the last few years is seeing so many amazing homes in magazines and blogs which look incredible – sleek lines, architectural finishes, neutral colour pallets, yet I wonder who actually lives there. I can’t see any signs of real life. Do you ever wonder where all the photographs went ?
Personally I love going into houses and seeing photos everywhere – the documentation of life, of change, of place, of people; moments in time captured, printed, displayed, remembered. It’s a little permanence in an ever-changing world. To say I’m a big fan of photography is a little bit of an understatement. The two ways I recommend using photography in homes are:
1. Scattered around everywhere. I make a point to update my kids professional pics regularly so I don’t miss those key stages that you can never get back. I love a mix of photos and other pieces of framed art, giving so much personality to your walls.
2. Consider a large format print as a stand-alone piece of art. No need to spend thousands on an original artwork to give a room an amazing lift. You don’t have to have the life size full frontal of yourself, but there might be a place that is special to you , or a shot of you family or pet in your favourite space or even a dramatic location that becomes the artwork itself.
Some good friends of mine just had some photos done, as they are leaving Sydney and wanted photos to hang in their new home overseas. I loved the way the photographers, Milk & Honey captured both the essence of the family, and the beauty of the Harbour and foreshore.

How can I organise my kids craft more efficiently? is a commonly asked question, so I hope this post gives you some tips. Maybe you have a craft/art space for yourself and/or your kids, maybe it’s a table, cupboard or whole room or both. What ever your space, you probably feel the same as I do about all things craft, that is you love doing it and seeing the kids having so much fun, but it all gets too much sometimes and stuff just seems so out of control when glitter footprints appear all over the house and you constantly ask yourself “will this stuff ever be tidy ?” The answer is probably when one of the following occur :
1. your kids move out of home, 2. when YOU and only you tidy it for guests or 3. when you take a few minutes every few days to sort it once you have it organised everything into it’s own “home”. Here is a quick and simple process for organising craft rooms/spaces:
